Although it's probably obvious to point this out, the recent Lindsay Lohan spread in New York magazine is a rather blatant expression of a peculiarly American form of death-lust. Of course, death in America has become essentially a nostalgia for a time when Images were possible...but there are no Images in America anymore, anymore than there are surfaces there.Thursday, February 21, 2008
